The Industry
The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is an integration of three networks: an inter-vehicle network, an intra-vehicle network, and vehicular mobile internet. Based on this concept of three networks integrated into one, we define an Internet of Vehicles as a large-scale distributed system for wireless communication and information exchange between vehicle2X (X: vehicle, road, human and internet) according to agreed communication protocols and data interaction standards. Vehicle information services, connected driving and intelligent transportation are considered three development phases of IoV. In the 4G era, IoV has realized vehicle information services, and has partially achieved connected driving in new energy vehicles. The transmission speed of 5G is theoretically 10 to 100 times that of 4G. 5G technology is expected to expand the application scenarios of IoV. 5G’s network rate, latency, and access capacity to MEC (Mobile Edge Computing), and the introduction of network slicing is driving a range of new applications such as automatic driving, perception sharing, remote driving, and high-quality video.
In the future, "smart cars" and "smart roads" will develop hand in hand. In terms of in-vehicle terminals, the medium and high-profile models of domestic independent carmakers are all enabled with network connectivity. Smart vehicles have long been regarded as an essential scenario for 5G commercialization. Level 2 smart driving (partial driving automation) only requires roads to be equipped with communication capabilities. When it comes to Level 3 and higher, roadside equipment must be integrated with MEC, AI, perception, etc. Vehicles with higher perception ability will inevitably lead to "smarter" roads, and vice versa. Intelligent vehicles and roads serve as a foundation for smart traffic and cities.
Fibocom Wireless Solutions
Fibocom 5G/ 4G/ vehicle modules are widely used for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), Digital Video Recorders (DVR), Telematics Boxes (T-Box), in-vehicle gateways, 5G smart antennas, Telematics Control Units (TCU), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), C-V2X (V2V/ V2I/ V2P), On Board Units (OBU), Roadside Units (RSU) and other vehicle-mounted and intelligent transportation systems. They provide high reliability and low latency wireless communication solutions to connected cars, high-precision positioning, 5G vehicle-road collaboration, unmanned mining trucks, 5G connected valet parking, 5G connected tour buses, and other scenarios.
